Whenever we come across the term “affiliate” wealth” it is usually being used in the context of making money – and lots of it. Not that there is anything wrong with aspiring to make money online – far from it. – it is a very respected way of generating additional income. For some it becomes a full time occupation with a very good income.
Today, however, I want you to think of affiliate wealth in a different way. So relax for a moment and think of a number of different scenarios which I’m about to describe for you.
Scenario 1: You have a regular job that brings in a reasonable income. However, you find it a real grind and you wish you could be more independent. Extra income would be nice, but what you would really like is to be your own boss and have your own business. Trouble is you have never worked out how to do it. You would like more freedom and balance in your life. Isn’t that the “wealth” in this case? The freedom and the balance?
Scenario 2: You are a self-funded retiree. You have worked hard all your life and you were hoping your retirement would be the time when you could really do a lot of the things you never had the time or money for. Instead you have found that your retirement funds are not stretching as far as you had hoped. You are a little frustrated and would like to supplement your income, but haven’t yet found a way of doing it. What would make you wealthy? Just the money? Or maybe what you could with it? Seems like freedom and balance are in the picture again.
Scenario 3: You are a stay-at-home mom and your days are filled with the routines of shopping, cleaning, dealing with the childrens’ many wants and needs. You love your husband and he provides well for the family, but there times when you wish you could do something for yourself that would let you put some of your interests and passions to good use and bring in additional income. You don’t know how that could happen because you can’t run away from your ongoing responsibilities. What would your definition of “wealth be?
I painted these scenarios because I wanted you to understand that wealth can take many different forms. Getting freedom and balance in your life is a great way to think about it.
